You folks have certainly been helpful to me.
#Camera shuttercount cannot count my 80d shutter count software#
I placed a copy of the downloaded program, v5.2.1 into my important software backup folders.

And each reading refers to the actual serial number of the camera. It just started working after the $6.99 purchase. Note I didn't need to insert a purchase serial number or anything like that. I unplugged and shut down eosmsg fired a burst and then reconnected to check the count again and sure enough there was the additional 4 shots read. I have been running continuous file numbering so I knew this was very accurate. And there was my count, Shots 5285 Mirror Count 5384. Shut down EosMsg, unplugged the USB cable from my camera, turned the camera off and back on, loaded EosMsg, pressed the Connect Camera button. I waited a couple minutes after making the payment and checked my PayPal account and the correct amount was deducted. This gave me pause, but I really need a solution as I put 117,000 clicks on my 7D last year and want to track my new 80D shutter count. The characters to the right of the black font Paypal word when clicked gave me the option of viewing the page in English. I was greeted with a PayPal payment page in what I believe to be Chinese. I downloaded the latest version V5.2.1.ĭPR member Fanatics confirmed it work as seen here.Īfter choosing the purchase option after launching. I'm very knowledgeable with Linux, so I'm confident it is installed correctly (otherwise it wouldn't work with the T3i and T5i that I tested with).Īfter reading through the thread and checking around EosMsg seemed worth the $6.99 for unlimited specific model readings of shutter and mirror counts. Some people have mentioned that they can get the shutter count of the 80D using gphoto2, but I'm not sure how. It works just fine with older Canon cameras (T3i, T5i, etc). Please make sure there is sufficient quoting around the arguments. If you intend to send any error or debug messages to the gphotoĮnv LANG=C gphoto2 -debug -debug-logfile=my-logfile.txt -get-config /main/status/shuttercounter Property '/main/status/shuttercounter' not found.įor debugging messages, please use the -debug option.ĭebugging messages may help finding a solution to your problem. Master:/data # gphoto2 -get-config /main/status/shuttercounter a lot of amazing photographers use basic or "primative" gear.I tried "gphoto2-2.5.11-3" (build Feb 10 12:50:03 2017), and it still doesn't work with my Canon 80D. most peoples solution for fixing things these days is to throw more money at it (logic behind this- better camera/gear= better photos) which is not always the case. unless its solely a back up body, youre not learning anything from your photos. the thing i dont understand is how many "less than 2,000 shutter clicks- selling to upgrade" posts you see. Obviously youre better off buying a camera with less than 10,000 shutter clicks unless theres a smoking deal on one with slightly higher. Not sure about nikon, but theres software online to identify the shutter count (EOS Count) which tells you how many times the shutter has actuated.

if a camera body has a big gouge or scratches all the body, the flash doesnt pop up anymore/work, knobs have a lot of play in them- the camera probably has been dropped. most cameras these days are rated for around 100,000 (+/-) shutter actuations. you should be able to tell the difference between a camera being used in a studio and a camera used to document the baja 500 every year just by looking at it in person. Its to give you an idea of the condition of a camera- ie: if a camera has 30,000 shutter clicks then it is being used all the time. Generally they post the shutter count to let you know either a) the camera has seen little use, or b) the camera has seen a decent amount of use.
